AFTER TWO INJURY SETBACKS, ARSENAL MAY BE WITHOUT SIX FIRST-TEAM PLAYERS AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is facing injury concerns as his side prepares for their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Wednesday. Despite a strong run of form, with the Gunners scoring 13 goals in their last three matches, Arteta’s squad may be depleted due to several injury setbacks.

Arsenal has been in excellent form since the international break, with key players like Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka leading the charge. With Arsenal climbing to second place in the Premier League, they will be hoping to continue their momentum against a resurgent Manchester United. Under Ruben Amorim, United have shown significant improvement, including a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton, with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both scoring.

However, Arsenal’s injury woes could affect their lineup, with up to six first-team players potentially unavailable. The most pressing concern is centre-back Gabriel Magalhães, who has been substituted in the past two matches. Gabriel scored in Arsenal’s wins over Sporting Lisbon and West Ham, but he was forced off at halftime during Saturday’s victory over West Ham after a blow to the head from goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. Arteta clarified that Gabriel's substitution was precautionary and not related to concussion protocols, but instead due to discomfort from a previous injury sustained in Lisbon. Gabriel has expressed hope of featuring against United, posting an optimistic message on Instagram, but his availability remains uncertain.

Two midfielders also face doubts for the upcoming match. Mikel Merino and Thomas Partey both missed the West Ham game due to injuries. Merino is dealing with a knee issue, while Partey is suffering from an unspecified muscle problem. Arteta has not provided much detail about the extent of these injuries, but he is expected to offer an update during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

With these injuries potentially leaving Arsenal without several key players, Arteta will be hoping that his squad can dig deep and secure another positive result against United, despite the challenges they may face.
