Professor Goski Alabi, former Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has urged Dr Bossman Asare, the Deputy Electoral Commissioner, to apply his expertise in global leadership to ensure peaceful, transparent, and credible elections in Ghana.
Speaking at the reunion of the 2012 Master of Philosophy in Global Leadership program graduates, Prof. Alabi stressed the importance of transparent elections in addressing leadership challenges in Ghana and enhancing the country’s global reputation.
"Dr. Bossman, we have faith that your leadership will bring significant transformation to our nation, Ghana," she said. "As a global leader, the world is watching you. We trust that in the upcoming elections, your leadership will ensure transparency, peace, and effectiveness, allowing the people of Ghana to benefit from global leadership."
She also emphasized the critical need for integrity and peace in leadership, especially during a time when many citizens are facing economic struggles and social unrest.
"Transparency is a fundamental aspect of leadership. Any compromise in this area could undermine Ghana’s peace and stability," she added.
The event, held in Accra, was the first-ever reunion of the inaugural cohort of the Master of Philosophy in Global Leadership program. It provided a platform to celebrate achievements and discuss strategies for societal transformation.
Prof. Collins Ahorlu, chairman of the alumni group, praised Prof. Alabi for her mentorship and expressed the group's commitment to contributing to Ghana's development through their collective expertise.
Alhaji Yussif Baba Suleman, the alumni group’s coordinator, outlined their vision to address leadership challenges in Ghana and across Africa through research, experience, and knowledge.
During the event, a special citation was presented to Prof. Alabi in recognition of her pioneering role in establishing the UPSA Graduate Leadership Program. Dr Ashiboe Mensah, another former lecturer, was also honoured for his contributions to the program.
Dr. Mensah, in his address, encouraged the alumni to incorporate active listening into their leadership practices, describing it as an essential tool for effective leadership.
Additionally, a video was shared detailing the steps to follow when voting in the upcoming election on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
