ASANTE KOTOKO GO TO THE TOP OF GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE

Asante goes to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after beating Basake HolyStars by a goal to nothing in Kumasi, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. This has placed them there before their upcoming game in the MTN FA this weekend against True Democracy football club. This and below are the back stories that came before the match itself.

The kings club would miss the services of one of the best defensive midfielders on the local scene this particular season after coming under lots of pressure to improve on his recent season. Andrews really understood the task and made it happen. But football comes with a lot of ups and downs as Andrews would miss the next games against Holystars.  This is because he has accumulated three yellow cards, first from the away win against Dreams FC then the draw with the mauve and yellows, the third one came against young apostles in the most recent game of the club. The good thing is that he would be out for only one match. Another happy news is that Justice Blay is also back and would be available for selection against Holy Stars which makes it easy for the coach to replace the suspended Andrews. This would be his second time missing a Ghana premier league match due to suspension. Blay is in good condition and hopefully he won't show too much fatigue as he has lacked game time for the past few games. This is a key focus for us, and we are eager to collaborate and make progress,” he said. The CAF Extraordinary Congress is currently underway with a positive atmosphere as most candidates are running unopposed. Dr. Patrice Motsepe will be re-elected as the President of CAF for a new four-year term. Many Ghanaians are interested in the outcome, but this election will see Kurt Okraku securing a position on the ExCo as he runs unopposed for the WAFU Zone B. Locally, several football pundits have expressed dissatisfaction with his elevation, but he will become the sixth Ghanaian to occupy that position, providing him with the opportunity to lead Ghana football for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, legendary Samuel Eto’o won his case at CAS, clearing him to contest against Célestin Yanindji of the Central African Republic.
