Soldiers Raid Bawumia’s ADC’s Home …Traumatised Yakubu Issahaku Says He Was Not At Home.

On April 5, 2025, armed operatives from the National Security Secretariat conducted a raid on the private residence of Yakubu Issahaku, the former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The incident occurred at Issahaku's home in Sapeiman.

Issahaku reported that he was alerted to the intrusion by a friend via WhatsApp around 6:14 p.m., informing him that approximately 30 masked and armed personnel had forcibly entered his property. He described the operation as destructive, noting that the operatives ransacked his home, resulting in significant damage. Specifically, security doors were broken, CCTV systems were disconnected, and internet routers, switches, and the home's hard disk were removed. Every room was searched without any explanation or legal justification provided.

Issahaku identified Superintendent of Police Sulemana Sule, stationed at Jubilee House and operating from the Blue Gate, as the leader of the operation. He expressed concern over the legality and motives of the raid, especially given his personal acquaintance with Sule.

This incident has sparked broader discussions about the use of military and security forces in civilian matters. Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul emphasized that in a democratic society, it is inappropriate to use soldiers to raid private homes, suggesting that such actions should be conducted by the police or National Security operatives.

Additionally, the Minority in Parliament has condemned similar raids on former government officials' residences, asserting that while they support accountability, they oppose human rights abuses and unlawful excesses by state security operatives.

These events have raised concerns about the state of democracy and civil liberties in Ghana, prompting calls for the government to adhere strictly to the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens.

He identified the operation's leader as Superintendent of Police Sulemana Sule, stationed at Jubilee House's Blue Gate, noting their personal acquaintance.

The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of state security operatives and the treatment of individuals associated with former high-ranking officials.
