With an eye-watering £42 million (€50 million) net annual wage, Paris Saint-Germain are apparently willing to go to any length to keep Kylian Mbappe.
The 23-year-old forward's contract at Parc des Princes expires at the end of the season, and Real Madrid is widely expected to sign him on a free transfer.
So far, the France international has turned down all contract extension offers from the Ligue 1 giants, including a rumoured 'blank cheque' offer made last week.
However, according to Le Parisien, PSG has once again pushed the boat out in an attempt to keep Mbappe, who, if handed a two-year contract, would earn more than £800,000 per week after taxes. According to the same storey - which is also being reported by Spanish outlet AS - the France striker would also receive an £83 million (€100 million) signing-on bonus, but his representatives have yet to respond to the offer.
PSG, on the other hand, is said to be enthusiastic about securing Mbappe's immediate future following productive negotiations with his agents.
Last week, reports claimed that Real Madrid were confident of acquiring both Mbappe and Erling Haaland this summer, and Sportsmail knows that the Frenchman might play a role if Los Blancos speed up their pursuit of PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The news comes just days after Mbappe sent a cryptic tweet about chasing down the club's all-time leading striker Edinson Cavani's 200-goal mark in Paris. Following his brace against Saint-Etienne, the 23-year-old has surpassed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the club's joint-second greatest goalscorer with 156 goals.
That's still 44 goals short of Cavani's tally, but Mbappe told Spanish newspaper AS: 'I just have Cavani left to become PSG's all-time leading scorer.'
We'll have to wait and see what happens. It's impossible to overlook the fact that he's PSG's top scorer. We'll see how things go.'
The striker also expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support from PSG fans, who have been pleading with him to sign a new contract in Paris. 'It's nice to have the support of the fans.' This is something we also play for. 'There's always the part about the goals and the numbers.' However, leaving a mark on people's memories is an important element of history. I really enjoyed it, and I appreciate it.'
Mbappe is having another strong season, scoring 24 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions, five of which came in the Champions League.
