Energy researcher Kojo Poku has urged the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) to avoid political meddling in the country's power outages.

He said that the corporation should be honest with Ghanaians and be able to notify the general public if a power outage is required.

Kojo Poku told Joy News that it is concerning for GRIDCo to deny power outages that it had previously stated, only for the country to be affected.

"The issue with power is that you can reduce outages if you're conducting maintenance and the lights are going to go out, but you can't claim it won't happen at all...

"So the truth to Ghanaians is a struggle for me." After GRIDCo stated that the rebuilding of several transmission lines from Achimota to Mallam substations will not result in power interruptions, he made his statement.

However, the business had already announced daily disruptions in various sections of the nation from April 9 to June 30 owing to transmission line rehabilitation from Achimota to Mallam substations.

The renovation is being carried out to fulfill the increased demand for energy in Accra and its surrounds, according to the statement.
