FixtheCountry activists Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Okatakyie Afrifa, and Captain Smart, among others, have been chastised by veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr. for their appeal to participate in an armed rally on June 4th, 2022.

In a letter to the police, the activists stated that they would want to meet with them "We're bringing our own security firm to safeguard protestors. All firearms carried by protestors or contracted security personnel will be for personal protection only, and will be permissible under the Arms and Ammunitions Act of 1972. (NRCD 9) f) Proposed route and destination: The Demonstrators are expected to congregate at Circle "..

They also asked to speak to the entire country on national television.

"The procession will proceed from Circle to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, where the protestors will demand a slot on GTV to speak directly to the nation and lay out our grievances, in accordance with Article 55(11), which guarantees Ghanaians a fair opportunity to present their programs to the public through equal access to state-owned media."

The Ghana Police Service has obtained an injunction against the planned rally from the Accra High Court after reviewing the requests.

"The Court granted an injunction to stop the organisers, their agents, assigns, and whomever is claiming via them from going on the armed protest as had been anticipated," the Police said in a statement on Friday after hearing the application.

In a statement on the subject, Kwesi Pratt slammed the FixtheCountry protestors for making "childish" demands.

He inquired as to what they planned to do with the guns and why they wanted to appear on national television.

"What do these folks want to do with their lives? That you put pen to paper or sit in front of the computer and compose a letter to the police stating that I will be coming on a protest with a pistol. What! Then there's war, or rather, a declaration of war. I'm at a loss for words. What was the letter's author thinking, after all? That you notify the police that we will be visiting your headquarters and will be carrying firearms with us ", he declared.

According to him, the group would not want to have firearms with them if they were not planning on using them.

"Do we make fun of guns? If you bring a gun to a demonstration, it suggests you'll shoot if you're given the chance. Why bring it if you're not going to fire it? It signifies you're about to fire the rifle."

Mr. Pratt believes the organization is undermining the demonstration's spirit.

"What kind of infantile antics are these? If you do these things and write these letters, you are undermining the right to demonstrate by empowering those who oppose them. They have a foundation dealing about anti-demonstrations and other issues. You are the one who has caused it; you are not strengthening our liberties. You are limiting our freedoms, among other things "He stated
