The Minister of Food and Agriculture has stated that the Akufo-Addo government's support for farmers in the country is unparalleled since the establishment of the Fourth Republican Constitution.

According to Dr. Afriyie Owusu Akoto, this was obvious in the Akufo-Addo administration's various agricultural-friendly policies, like as the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) and fertliser subsidies, which helped farmers raise productivity.

The Minister made the remarks while on a working visit in the Eastern Region, speaking to farmers in Kwame Doudoo.

He stated, "The administration was doing all necessary to make farmers feel at ease."

He also took use of the opportunity to clearly refute claims made by some quarters that the country was facing a food crisis.

"Following my tour to five districts, there is no food shortage in the country." Rather, food costs have risen, with poultry feeds for farmers also being in high demand," he explained.

He emphasised that his Ministry is not a financial institution, but rather a guide for farmers to guarantee that enough food is produced to feed the people.

He praised Mohammed Ibrahim, a farmer from Kwame Doudoo who owns the region's largest palm farm, as well as a fish pond and a corn field.

Earlier in the day, the Minister paid a visit to Legacy Square, a firm that manufactures chemicals to help seedlings thrive.

Mr. Amos Azinu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Legacy Square, welcomed the Minister and stated that his company has been in existence for almost seven years.

He claimed that hunger was more deadly than a pandemic, and he urged farmers to work with the MoFA to make Ghana a better place.

Dr. Akoto and his colleagues also went to Pinora, a suburb of Asamankese, where farmers make a variety of juices, and Sahmen Farms, which is also in Asamankese. He completed his tour of the region with a stop at Kodua, which is near to Asamankese.
