Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the caretaker minister for gender, children, and social safety, has pleaded with school administrators to permit students to assist in cleaning the school's facilities.
According to her, students should also be responsible for cleaning restrooms, including the restrooms and urinals.
According to the minister, teaching students to take care of their surroundings at school will instil discipline and prepare them to be responsible people.
In response to worries about child abuse in schools, the sanitation minister stated that it is customary in Ghana for children to assist with household tasks, including cleaning tasks at schools.
"Our kids should acquire housework skills from a sociocultural standpoint. They must perform housework. It is important to teach discipline and responsibility to children.
It's wonderful to see kids pitching in around the house and at school. The kids over there were holding their trash cans to empty them, and we are from Garrison Primary," she insisted.
The sector minister has been visiting various schools in the Ashanti area to check on student safety and welfare as well as to see how school administrators are doing their jobs.
She encouraged the elementary school students to be dedicated to their academics since they are Ghana's future.
Prior to this, several caterers participating in the school food programme vowed to stop providing cooking services until the government paid their back debts.
However, the acting minister stated that all unpaid debts had been resolved.
She stated that the purpose of the visit was to make sure the caterers served healthy meals to the students.
The organiser telling me we made delicious cuisine is one thing. We have to research this on our own.
"The cooking should take place after school hours. In order to prevent any issues with children being susceptible to diseases, the meal must be brought on time, be healthy, and be served hot, according to Cecilia Dapaah.
