According to reports, Bayern Munich has made a proposal of over €75 million to capture Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Juventus who has been a target for Chelsea this summer.
De Ligt, whose contract at the Allianz Stadium has two years remaining, has been associated with a number of clubs during the current transfer window. In order to make room for additional players to arrive, Juventus is rumoured to be interested in selling him for the right price.
Even though Chelsea was thought to be in a strong position to sign the center-back last month, a new development has emerged in the last few days. De Ligt wants a move to the Bundesliga because he has "sympathies for Bayern Munich from a young age," according to a SPORT1 article from earlier this week.
Journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims that Bayern has countered Juventus' demand for a basic price of at least €80 million with an offer of €75 million plus add-ons for De Ligt.
The report added that Chelsea, who had previously made a bid in the neighbourhood of €70 million, is currently waiting to make an upgraded offer to the Serie A team. De Ligt has played in 117 games in all competitions since joining the Old Lady in 2019, contributing to eight goals and three assists. He played in 42 games for Juventus in all competitions during the 2021–22 season, recording 16 shutouts in the process.
In an agreement to sign Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich made terms with Barcelona.
Renowned journalist Raphael Honigstein reports that Bayern Munich has asked Barcelona to pay any prospective transfer fee for forward Robert Lewandowski up front.
The 33-year-old, who has expressed a desire to leave the Bundesliga club this summer, has been the focus of strong transfer rumours. Bayern Munich is eager to cash in on him because his current contract only has 12 months left on it.
Raphael Honigstein discussed Barcelona's financial woes and the unfolding transfer drama on The Totally Football Show.
Says Honigstein
"Bayern reportedly informed Barca, "We don't want any instalments since we're not sure you'll be here in a year or two," according to reports. We demand full payment in cash up front. One of the sticky points is that."
Added him: "They wouldn't be too happy if Lewandowski ended up staying, but Barcelona has significant difficulties matching Bayern's asking price of €50 million. Lewandowski moving to Barcelona remains to my mind the most likely possibility; I believe there will be a way for this to happen."
