The 2022 World Cup kits from Puma and Adidas have been unveiled, prompting a massive social media criticism about the "worst crop of shirts" the competition has ever seen.
Puma chose a template design with player numbers in big boxes on the front after receiving a lot of criticism for their allegedly badge-less jerseys worn by Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund among others in the Champions League previous season.
Unlike their colleagues German manufacturers, Adidas chose a more classic style and received appreciation for it by releasing images of Lionel Messi and Thomas Müller.
"Fair play to Puma for coming out with the worst crop of shirts the World Cup has ever seen," one Twitter user remarked.
"Thank you for spoiling Serbia's home and away uniforms, the designer must be proud," a second person said.
After the Uruguay, Senegal, Serbia, Morocco, Ghana, and Switzerland kits were officially unveiled, the reaction was nearly entirely unfavorable.
Puma has faced intense criticism for the bizarre kit design.
Serbia's uniform has received more criticism than the others
"New heights of pure s***ness from Puma," a third person continued.
"Can't wait to do a World Cup kit review, Puma are getting f***ing rinsed," a fourth person wrote.
"Puma must be boycotting the World Cup or something," said a fifth participant.
In Qatar, Senegal will wear this green outfit.
Sixth: "Puma have decided to make the teams look like f***ing advent calendars because the World Cup is in December!"
Another person commented, "They're really unusual, but why do they look more like souvenir t-shirts than actual football uniforms?"
More people have responded favorably to the Adidas products, with appreciation for Germany's "serious" home design and Argentina's striking purple changing uniform.
Prior to the World Cup, Lionel Messi posed in Argentina's national team uniform.
The Germany home and away uniforms were described as "giant kits" by one admirer.
"Looks like I'm going to spend so much money on football shirts this year," the second person said.
The away uniform is a feeling, according to a third adage of Argentina's garb.
Following the criticism of their last season's uniform choice, Puma was forced to issue an apology and even modify the Dortmund uniform by adding a more conventional insignia.
