After 31 years of active service, Emmanuel Adu-Gyamerah, the Daily Graphic's Bono and Ahafo Regional Correspondent, has retired.

The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) employed me for 19 of these years.

A special ceremony of thanksgiving was performed for him at the Glory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Dr. Berko, a neighbourhood of Sunyani in the Bono Region, in recognition of God's graces and protection during his career and retirement.

The event, which had the topic "Retirement Thanksgiving Service in Honour of Mr. Emmanuel Adu-Gyamerah," also served as a way to thank God for giving him the wisdom and fortitude to labour for 31 years, a period of time during which he accomplished a great deal in the field of journalism.

Along with his wife Comfort Pokuah, children Vera, Nancy, and Victor Adu-Gyamerah, grandkids, some GCGL personnel, politicians, and leaders of many institutions and organisations, Mr. Adu-Gyamerah was accompanied by his family and friends.

Among the well-wishers were luminaries like Dr. Lucy Acheampong, Tain District Chief Executive (DCE), Martin Omari Sarfo, Ashanti, Bono, and Tamale Zonal Managers of the GCGL, and Raphael Godlove Ahenu, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Media Foundation.

Following the event, Mr. Adu-Gyamerah's family and some of the dignitaries assisted him in cutting his 60th birthday cake.

Be sincere.

Rt. Rev. Alfred Appiah Andam, Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana's Wenchi Diocese, delivered a special sermon in which he also led the Thanksgiving service and asked reporters to report accurately.

He said that because journalism is a sort of ministry, it must be carried out honestly and to the point if it is to serve its target audience.

Even if they did not support the administration, he counselled journalists to remain truthful in their coverage of it.

Rt. Rev. Andam also urged aspiring journalists to imitate Mr. Adu-Gyamerah's selflessness, diligence, and devotion to duty, which won him the admiration of many.

The PCG's Glory Congregation's lead minister, Rev. Daniel Okai Lartey, praised Mr. Adu-Gyamerah for his dedication to the Lord's cause despite his hectic schedule.

According to him, Mr. Adu-Gyamerah performed vital duties for the church as needed at various points, and as a Christian, this was in order for him to have entered the presence of God to express gratitude for his mercies and protection.

Commitment

Mr. Sarfo, speaking on behalf of the GCGL, praised Mr. Adu-Gyamerah for his dedication to duty throughout his active service.

"You performed admirably in each of the responsibilities you were given, including that of legislative correspondent, special events reporter, and regional journalist for the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions.

Mr. Sarfo claimed that Mr. Adu-Gyamerah had written a number of stories that had been successful, garnering him a number of accolades.
