Ghanaian Pastor Predicts Election Outcome in Parallel to Trump’s Return to U.S. Presidency
A Ghanaian pastor’s prediction about Ghana’s upcoming election has gained attention after drawing parallels to the recent U.S. election, where former President Donald Trump won another term on November 5, 2024. This prediction, made by St. Sark, General Overseer of Opens Arms Ministry, has sparked widespread conversation in Ghana as the nation heads toward its own presidential election on December 7.
In an interview with media host Nana Yaa Brefo, St. Sark suggested that Ghana’s election may mirror the unexpected outcome seen in the United States. He speculated that, much like Trump’s return to power after losing in 2020, Ghana may see a political comeback for a candidate previously defeated at the polls. This prediction has captured public attention and fueled discussions on social media about the possibilities in Ghana’s upcoming election.
Trump’s recent election win over Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris surprised many political analysts, who had projected a close race. Trump, who previously served as the 45th U.S. President from 2016 to 2020, lost his reelection bid to Joe Biden in 2020. His successful return to the presidency has made him one of the few presidents in American history to serve non-consecutive terms, an event that is shaping both U.S. and global discussions on political comebacks.
St. Sark believes that this “trend” could repeat in Ghana, suggesting that former President John Dramani Mahama could see a resurgence of support similar to Trump’s. Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, has faced incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) multiple times but has not reclaimed the presidency since his 2012 victory and 2016 loss.
Meanwhile, another Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Francis Awotwe, had reportedly forecasted Trump’s return to office during a 2022 church service, a prediction that gained renewed interest following Trump’s recent victory. Awotwe's statement reportedly resurfaced on social media, with many acknowledging his accurate projection of the U.S. election result.
The pastor's comments have stirred considerable reaction online, with Ghanaians sharing mixed opinions on the parallels drawn between the two elections. Some support St. Sark's vision, while others are skeptical of its accuracy, given the complex factors that influence voter behavior in Ghana.
As Ghana's election date approaches, anticipation continues to grow over whether any of the predicted outcomes will materialize. St. Sark’s vision of a political comeback has fueled curiosity about the race between Mahama and current Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who represents the ruling party’s bid for continuity.
With both candidates preparing for what is expected to be a tightly contested election, Ghanaian voters are watching closely to see if St. Sark’s prophecy and Awotwe's past prediction on U.S. politics signal an emerging trend—or if they’re simply intriguing stories that add to the election’s drama.
