Efia Odo Claims Bawumia is God’s Choice for President

Ghanaian socialite Efia Odo has stirred up a significant online debate with her bold prediction that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), will win the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024. Taking to social media, Efia Odo confidently declared, "The next President of Ghana is Bawumia. Bookmark this tweet, give praises to God after the election. It is the doing of the Lord."

Her statement quickly caught the attention of her followers, with one Twitter (X) user questioning why she had chosen Bawumia. Efia Odo responded, “It’s what God wants,” reinforcing her belief that Bawumia’s victory is divinely ordained.

While some fans supported her stance, the post sparked a heated discussion, with critics accusing her of being bribed to endorse the NPP candidate. This backlash is particularly notable given Efia Odo’s history as a vocal critic of the NPP government. In the past, she had led protests, including the “Fix The Country” movement, which called for better governance. Critics pointed out the stark contrast between her previous activism and her recent proclamation about Bawumia’s impending victory.

Despite the backlash, Efia Odo has firmly stated that her tweet was not an endorsement of Bawumia or the NPP, but rather a revelation she felt compelled to share. She clarified, “I didn’t say I’m voting for Bawumia; I said he’s winning the election. Even if I tweeted that Mahama or Cheddar is winning, you would’ve said I’ve taken a bribe.” She emphasized that her prediction was based on what she believes is a divine message, rather than political affiliation or financial gain.

Efia Odo's declaration has also led many to revisit her past critical remarks about the NPP government. In one particularly scathing tweet from October 7, 2024, she referred to the NPP as “Wicked Evil NPP,” a sentiment that has resurfaced in response to her recent prediction. Despite this, Efia Odo remains unfazed by the criticism. She retorted, "They can dig all they want, Bawumia will be president whether I hate NPP or not."

Her bold declaration has created a whirlwind of reactions, highlighting the growing influence of social media personalities in shaping political discourse in Ghana. As the election approaches, Efia Odo’s prediction continues to fuel conversations across social media platforms, with many wondering whether her bold statement will prove to be prophetic.
