Rev. Kusi Boateng Reflects on Failed Prophecy After 2024 Elections

Rev. Kusi Boateng, Founder of Power Chapel Worldwide, has reflected on his failed prophecy predicting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's victory in Ghana’s 2024 elections. Speaking during a sermon on Sunday, December 8, the clergyman addressed the situation following the decisive win by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

Rev. Boateng shared his struggle to reconcile the prophecy with the election results, stating that the same clarity he had experienced in past divine messages was present when he prophesied about the polls. “The same way God has been speaking to me over the years, He spoke to me, but the opposite occurred. The Bible says let God be true and let all men be liars. I saw right, I heard right, but the opposite has occurred,” he said.

He acknowledged that such moments test believers’ faith and understanding of God. “In our walk with God, there are times you feel you know Him so much, but then He starts redefining Himself to you. Personally, I think it is difficult to explain physically because the same way I have been hearing God speak was the same way I heard Him speak on this matter,” he added.

Rev. Boateng’s comments came after Dr. Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) conceded defeat and congratulated President-elect Mahama. Despite the Electoral Commission’s pending official declaration, Dr. Bawumia recognized the NDC's victories in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

In his address to the nation on December 8, Dr. Bawumia expressed his commitment to a smooth transition. “Let me say the data indicate former President Mahama has won the presidential election decisively. I just called His Excellency John Mahama to congratulate him,” he stated.

He assured Mahama of full cooperation during the transition and promised a constructive opposition. “We will not be a destructive opposition, even though we will subject the next government to strict scrutiny. We will regroup and come back stronger,” he vowed.

The election marked a turning point in Ghana’s political history, with Mahama securing an overwhelming mandate and the NDC regaining parliamentary control. Both leaders have pledged to ensure unity and continuity in governance.
