Ghanaian football powerhouses Asante Kotoko will return to the continental scene after an FA Cup victory.

In the MTN FA Cup final at the University of Ghana Stadium, the Porcupine Warriors narrowly defeated Golden Kick FC 2-1 to earn a spot in the 2025–26 CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko's ninth FA Cup victory is a noteworthy accomplishment for a team with a long and illustrious history in African football.

The squad's triumph highlights a robust comeback in performance, and their entry back into CAF competition piques the interest of supporters who are itching to watch their team play internationally once more.

Although they have not played in CAF interclub events in a while, the Kumasi-based team has had trouble making an impression.

But going into the new campaign, there is hope thanks to the current group of players, which includes both seasoned campaigners and up-and-coming talent.

It is anticipated that Kotoko's technical staff and management would enhance the team during the next transfer window to improve their chances on the continent.

Kotoko's participation in the 2025–26 CAF Confederation Cup could be crucial to repairing Ghana's standing in club football, as the sport is looking for a comeback in Africa.

Ghanaian goalie Razak Abalora leaves AF Elbasani in Albania.

After an early contract termination, Ghanaian goalkeeper Razak Abalora left Albanian Superliga team AF Elbasani, becoming a free agent ahead of the summer transfer window.

Although the specifics of the breakup are yet unknown, it was rumored that the former Asante Kotoko goalie quit the team due to an internal dispute.

Before the 2024–25 season, Abalora joined the recently promoted Elbasani and made 33 appearances in all competitions to establish himself as their starting goalkeeper.

A respectable return for a team struggling to establish itself in the Albanian first flight, he gave up 30 goals while keeping 11 clean sheets.

As they get ready for the 2025–26 Ghana Premier League season, his former team, Asante Kotoko, is reportedly keeping a close eye on his status and considering a reunion as a result of his early departure.

As they rebuild their team, Kotoko sees Abalora's quality and expertise as a perfect fit for their goals.

Before moving to Albania, Abalora, a WAFA SC alumnus, played for FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, where he participated in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, and FC Petrocub Hincesti.

He is still well-liked in Ghanaian football circles and has four senior caps with the national team.

As he looks for a new challenge to rekindle his career, his next move could be pivotal.
