‘SUSPEND WHO?’ – ABRONYE REACTS TO NPP’S FINAL WARNING OVER INDISCIPLINE

Kwame Baffoe Abronye, the controversial life member and former Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has responded sharply to the party’s “final warning” over allegations of indiscipline. The action follows a directive from the party’s General Secretary.

According to GhanaWeb, the NPP issued a stern warning to both Abronye and former National Youth Organiser Ernest Owusu‑Bempah for perceived acts of indiscipline within party ranks. The General Secretary emphasized that this was a final notice: any further behaviour deemed unbecoming would lead to disciplinary measures including suspension or expulsion  .

However, Abronye made it clear that he feels the warning is misplaced and unjustified. “Suspend who? I’m only speaking about things I know, and nothing will change my position,” he fumed, maintaining that any talk of suspension or sanction was baseless  . He insisted that his criticisms and commentary stem from hard facts, rooted in his long-standing engagement with NPP affairs, and that he would not retract his statements.

Abronye is known for his outspoken approach, and this, according to observers, has often placed him at odds with party leadership. Despite being a long-standing member of the NPP, his readiness to vocalise concerns—even harshly—has occasionally triggered internal backlash.

This new showdown adds to the growing list of tensions between Abronye and the party hierarchy. The warning suggests the NPP is drawing a line, insisting that its members must not publicly bring internal disputes to the fore. Party leaders argue that such actions undermine unity and may confuse or demotivate supporters ahead of future campaigns.

For his part, Abronye remains defiant. He emphasised that he would not be silenced—asserting once more that his interventions reflect nothing but cold, hard truth. Whether the party leadership will push ahead with disciplinary action remains unclear.

In the meantime, all eyes will be on the next NPP meeting, where the fate of Abronye and Owusu‑Bempah may be formally addressed. Will the party enforce its warning? Or will it allow its vocal critics to remain within the fold?
