Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez as a hitting partner for Romelu Lukaku.
In 15 appearances in Serie A this season, the 24-year-old has 10 goals and two assists. Last summer, he was linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. However, United acquired Cristiano Ronaldo, and a deal with Spurs fell through.
Martinez and Romelu Lukaku had a solid relationship in Serie A last season, scoring 17 goals and assisting 10 times. Inter Milan won their first Scudetto in a decade under their guidance.
Chelsea then signed Romelu Lukaku for a club-record sum of £97.5 million this season.
The Belgian, on the other hand, hasn't been able to make the kind of impression that Blues fans had hoped for.
This season, he has five goals and one assist in 16 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions.
Lukaku has been recovering from an injury and is gradually returning to the team. Meanwhile, Timo Werner, his current strike partner, has struggled. In 14 games this season, he has five goals and two assists.
As a result, Chelsea is trying to add a talented striker like Lautaro Martinez to their squad. If they sign him, Timo Werner may be forced to go.
